Winter

That specific color

of winter in my home country

I can nearly smell that color!

It is grey and heavy and crisp and dense and I can hear the sound of walking through that color! You too?

The pic is taken in my friend’s garden and I can’t stop thinking how very different my life here in Japan is. And it made me understand, why I created certain workpieces today: I miss those heaps of cold cream white! And the way the snow piles up on the branches, the way the ice clings to the twigs!

My way of adding ice to the twigs. If there is no snow, you create the image of snow, right!

So, that is how winter looks here in Japan!

Wax is an all-time favorite of mine. Always my spring lessons contain wax. It must come from my German deep white frozen winter heritage!
